It presents one of the studio’s innovations renowned for its adaptive re-use strategies, material experimentation and emotionally resonant spatial interventions in Jordan and the region.
Sabil - The Nomad Pavilion, a contemporary revival of the traditional Islamic sabil, marries nature, Islamic art, architecture, craftsmanship, sustainability and tradition. "We wanted to create a sustainable and socially responsible structure that serves as both a shelter and a tower for collecting rainwater and air, while offering a contemplative experience that brings nomadic and Islamic values to life and is true to its surroundings. The word “sabil” refers to the rain that falls from the sky before reaching the earth. In Islamic architecture, it refers to a public place where people can drink, or a fountain designed to water passers-by. We have created an oasis that can be placed in different contexts, functions and landscapes."
