Perched on a hilltop in northern Amman, this renovation reinterprets a 1990s stone villa set within a mature, lush garden. The existing house; simple in form yet rich in material presence—provided a grounded architectural language that guided the intervention. Rather than altering its character, the project introduces a new first-floor addition that sits lightly above the original structure, carefully respecting its massing, scale, and stone materiality while extending its spatial and visual logic.

The added level draws on the understated charm of the Ammani house. Using conventional collestra blocks, the upper volume is articulated as a layered, permeable mass that filters light and air while softening its presence on the skyline. Openings, recesses, and screens create depth and shadow, allowing the architecture to breathe and respond to its elevated setting.

Within this layered envelope, the extension unfolds as a sequence of concealed gardens and intimate outdoor pockets, offering privacy without isolation. The intervention balances solidity and lightness—rooted in local building traditions yet quietly contemporary; allowing the house to grow upward while preserving the serenity and dignity of its original form.
